St. Mary's Convent School, Sonatalab, a branch of the above school was established in 1993. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on the love of God and the service of man as modelled in Jesus Christ, with a view of training citizens for all round development and sincere commitment to God and the country. It believes that a sound moral, physical and cultural training is as important as academics in preparing students for their role in life.

English is the medium of instruction, communication and examination in this institution. Hindi is taught from L.K.G. onwards. It is a co-education school. Preference is given to girl child at admission. The school is a senior secondary school. The school has Science and Commerce stream, The School is affiliated to C.B.S.E, New Delhi having classes from LKG to XII Std.

Mission

St. Mary's Convent School, Sonatalab is a minority Catholic institution established and administered by the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Queen of Apostles, a registered charitable society. This Congregation was founded by a German Jesuit Priest Rev. Fr. Antonius Maria Bodewig who came to India as a missionary. On the one hand he had an immense love for the precious qualities and spiritual wealth which Indians possessed and was drawn to Benares for its spiritual significance. On the other hand he was moved by the existing condition of the time, the plight of children, youth and women. He saw education of the youth as one of the best means to uplift the people. Soon his ideas were spread in Germany and attracted many followers who came forward to dedicate their life to God and render service to humanity.

His first followers came to Benares in 1927 and in accordance with his vision began "TO PROCLAIM THE COMPASSIONATE LOVE OF GOD AS MANIFESTED IN JESUS" through various activities such as:

Education of the young, nursing the sick, caring for young girls and women, assisting the poor to develop their own resources and live in dignity and honour.

The school is under the religious jurisdiction of the Catholic Bishop of Varanasi. MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS IS THE PATRONESS of the school and its motto is "SERVE IN CHARITY".

Vision

The vision of the school is to give the students “the vision of excellence” in academics, and to become responsible citizens to serve the nation with a sense of integrity and honesty. To achieve this vision the institution expects parents / guardians and teachers to co-operate in making it a reality.
